Q1:- Why are managers required to have / acquire different skills sets at various levels of their career? Explain the concept and its significance with suitable examples from the organisation you have served in, or you are familiar with.

The managerial skills at various levels
As a manager moves up in an organisation, his responsibilities increase eventually. He has to take up more charges additionally to be an influencer, a leader and an example in his team. There are certain skills which he needs to develop. They are:

(a) Technical Skills: It is a must for a manager to know about the technical skills. As a surgeon should be well equipped with his tools, so is an accountant required to have a proficiency in accounting task. In the same manner, a manager should have an expertise in the technical part where his organisation is dealing. This is because this is an era of specialisation where knowledge of technical skills is a must.

(b)       Human Skills: Human skills are the manager’s ability to work with efficiency as a group member. While the technical skills ensure that a manager works in tandem with machines, the human skills makes sure that the manager works comfortably with his team.
