Q. 3. Briefly explain
the sources of conflict and the impact it has on individuals, groups, and
organisations. Cite examples from your organisational experience or the
experience you are aware of.
Ans.
There are different impacts of conflicts. These conflicts increase the group
cohesiveness within the group. They also help the group in becoming
task-oriented. Besides, they help the leadership in becoming more strong and
directive. They also help the organisation in becoming more rigid.
However, the conflict between the groups makes groups antagonistic towards one other. It also distorts the perceptions by ceasing the communication and allowing the group to apply a double standard.
Besides, these advantages, there are many potential benefits of conflicts. They helps in clarifying the real issue by increasing innovation, solidifying the group, serving as catharsis and also solidifies the intergroup relationships.
These
conflicts helping the organisation to develop creativity are called as
functional conflicts, while the conflicts hindering the growth of organisations
are called as dysfunctional ones.
